Dr. Samuel B. Lee has said that addiction is not just about a particular substance or behavior. It is often about what the nervous system is trying to survive, numb, regulate, or escape. If that is true, then the real issue may not be the addiction itself. It may be the unresolved trauma underneath it. In that case, healing the trauma is not a side issue. It is the issue.
So where do we start energetically with this? Yes, we can and will investigate trauma in its various forms, but for starters, let’s keep it simple.
As a group, we resonated at 100% with one command:
I command my autonomic nervous system to perfectly regulate every system of my body.
A body-systems scan then pointed us to two areas of stress: connective tissue and, of all things, nails.
(My initial reaction to this scan was: NAILS??)
But while connective tissue may relate to over-responsibility, bracing, guarding, tension, inflammation, and poor repair signaling, nails can reflect overall nourishment and the deeper reserves needed to deal with all this.
So what can each of us do to help this process along? After all, the SRC is external technology. Our internal technology is far more powerful.
One simple place to start: drink more water.
Which means it’s time to take a closer look at the consciousness of water.
If you’re ready to get a little wild and crazy, tonight set aside a glass or bottle of water for tomorrow and place an affirmation under it.
One possibility:
May this water bring cleansing, flow, and replenishment through every layer of my being.
Or…because life isn’t meant to be taken so seriously…
May this water carry a memo to my nervous system that not every inconvenience is a five-alarm fire.
