Hoping all the Halloween festivities are going well!
And by the way—Halloween began as a seasonal observance marking the transition into winter, eventually becoming intertwined with the Christian traditions of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
Somewhere along the way, disguises, spirits, tricks, and treats became part of the festivities.
But was Halloween originally intended to honor evil?
Not according to its documented history.
These days, some are not so sure.
Meanwhile, there’s some irony related to today’s scan.
We scanned to receive the MASTER TRICKSTER cocktail, addressing deception, manipulation, misdirection, confusion, and the clever ways we sometimes fool ourselves.
At the same time, we’re clearing and harmonizing the Crown Chakra, traditionally associated with Divine connection, spiritual wisdom, and higher consciousness.
AND we scanned to have this rather extraordinary Biblical reminder infused throughout our biofield:
Psalm 82:6 — "I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High."
Interesting combination!
Could it be that we’re being invited to see through a few illusions?
Hold that thought—
Because since it’s Halloween, I’d heard the term "Hungry Ghost" and decided to investigate.
There are several interpretations, but the late Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh offered a particularly meaningful one.
In Buddhist tradition, Hungry Ghosts are often depicted with enormous stomachs and throats as narrow as needles.
In other words, desperately hungry but unable to swallow.
Thich Nhat Hanh used this image to describe people who have grown up without feeling loved, understood, accepted, or connected.
No need to explore all the reasons for this—that’s too much for today’s reading—but the bottom line is that they’re desperately hungry for love and connection, yet may be unable to accept either when offered.
They’ve been disappointed too many times.
Now think about our society for a moment.
We have endless entertainment, unlimited information, and seemingly infinite opportunities to stay connected.
And yet, sometimes it seems we’re producing more Hungry Ghosts than ever.
How many are angry, alienated, suspicious, or convinced nobody understands them?
How many have lost faith in their families, communities, institutions, and traditions?
How many are desperately searching for somewhere to belong?
And perhaps most importantly—
How many have become so accustomed to disappointment that they can no longer recognize love when it arrives?
That’s the tragedy of the Hungry Ghost.
Which brings us right back to today’s unusual combination of energetic requests.
The Master Trickster invites us to examine deception, including the stories and assumptions that distort our understanding.
The Crown Chakra represents our connection to Divine Wisdom.
And Psalm 82:6 reminds us of our relationship to the Most High.
What if one of the greatest tricks of all is convincing people that they are separate, unwanted, unworthy, or fundamentally alone?
What if we’ve become so preoccupied with our differences that we’ve forgotten something essential about our shared humanity?
And what if spiritual awareness is about more than recognizing our own connection to God?
What if it also means learning to recognize the worth of the people standing right in front of us?
So here’s a question for today:
As we continue along our own path of spiritual awareness, could we extend a little Heart Energy toward those who have forgotten what it feels like to be loved?
Now THAT would be a Halloween worth celebrating!
