THE PLASMA WORLD
CAPTAIN’S LOG
Our mission has taken an unexpected turn. Mr. Spock is investigating the possibility that intelligence may exist without a conventional biological body.
Kirk: "Report, Spock."
Spock: "Captain, I have been examining the work of Robert Temple, author of A New Science of Heaven. His investigations concern plasma, the fourth state of matter."
McCoy: "Fourth? I thought we were doing just fine with three!"
Spock: "Solids, liquids, gases, and plasma, Doctor. Plasma consists of electrically charged particles whose collective behavior is influenced by electric and magnetic fields."
Scotty: "Now you’re talking my language! Plasma’s all over the universe, Captain. The stars, the Sun, lightning…"
Kirk: "And what makes it so interesting?"
Spock: "Plasma can organize into complex structures. Under certain conditions, particles interact collectively, forming patterns that resemble certain aspects of biological organization."
McCoy: "So?"
Spock: "Temple proposes that some sufficiently complex plasma structures might possess intelligence and are highly influenced by electromagnetic energy."
McCoy: "INTELLIGENCE? You’re telling me there could be people floating around out there without BODIES?"
Spock: "Not necessarily people, Doctor. Conceivably, forms of existence radically different from biological organisms."
Kirk: "Have we found any?"
Spock: "No confirmed examples, Captain. Intelligent plasma remains a hypothesis."
Kirk: "And the connection to humanity?"
Spock: "The human heart produces a measurable electromagnetic field. There may now be some merit to the power of love.
Kirk: "Could the reverse hold true as well? Could emotional states have something to do with electromagnetic activity?"
Spock: "Emotion does influence measurable physiological activity, Captain.
Kirk: "And Temple believes consciousness might survive biological death?"
Spock: "Indeed. His theory proposes that something of the individual might continue in plasma-based form. Whether such a structure exists, possesses consciousness, or survives physical death remains unestablished."
McCoy: "And how are we supposed to investigate all this?"
Spock: "There is information available online and in various reading materials.
Scotty: "Captain, I’ve got one question."
Kirk: "Go ahead, Scotty."
Scotty: "If we really are plasma beings wearing physical bodies, who decided THESE were the best models? The knees wear out, the eyesight goes, the hair disappears, and the whole thing requires more maintenance than the Enterprise!"
McCoy: "And involves considerably more medical bills!"
Scotty: "Aye, Doctor. Case in point—look what the founder’s energy group is working on today!"
OBSTRUCTED QI IN THE METAL ELEMENT MERIDIANS
McCoy: "What does THAT mumbo jumbo mean?"
Spock: "Within traditional Chinese medicine, it describes disrupted Qi flow associated with the Lung and Large Intestine meridians. These are symbolically connected with breathing, boundaries, grief, and the ability to let go."
Scotty: "And there’s more. The group asked for energy related to:
Throat Chakra
Over-identification with others’ pain
Master Grief Cocktail
Sinus-related emotional associations: feeling unloved, pushing people away while wanting love, and linking happiness with punishment.
McCoy: "Where does all this come from, and what good does it do to even HEAR it?"
Scotty: "The founder uses SRC software to scan the biofield which is said to contain vast data. Then she sends the information out in her daily blog. While the SRC does stress management, group members can consider the themes and make choices in their everyday, three-dimensional lives."
McCoy: "Like WHAT?"
Spock: "For starters, Doctor, a few minutes of comfortable, gentle breathing can provide an opportunity to settle the mind and reconnect with the body. There are numerous guided videos available."
Scotty: "And given the digestive theme, they might consider eating some REAL FOOD today!"
McCoy: "What a revolutionary concept!"
Spock: "They might also perform one act of kindness for another person or situation. This can have significant impact on personal level of grief.
McCoy: "So let me get this straight. We’ve got plasma beings, electromagnetic fields, and highly sophisticated scanning software…"
Spock: "Correct."
McCoy: "…and you’re telling me the practical recommendations are BREATHE, EAT VEGETABLES, AND BE NICE TO SOMEBODY?"
Spock: "An admirably concise summary, Doctor."
Scotty: "And considerably cheaper than replacing the warp drive!"
Kirk: "Gentlemen, enough. Tomorrow we’re investigating something Temple calls the Invisible Earth."
McCoy: "The INVISIBLE EARTH?"
Spock: "Indeed, Doctor. Apparently, we have barely begun to explore the planet we are standing on."
McCoy: "Jim, I’m beginning to understand why the founder turned to YouTube and wine."
CAPTAIN’S LOG — DAY THREE COMPLETE
Our investigation has revealed a fascinating possibility: Perhaps the universe contains forms of organization—and possibly life—that we have scarcely begun to understand.
Meanwhile, the crew has discovered that improving life on Earth may begin with three astonishingly simple things:
BREATHE. NOURISH. LOVE.
Tomorrow: THE INVISIBLE EARTH.
